He loves justice...

Lord, you know my internal struggle today...
the spiritual battle... my plea for justice...

Why do violent people get to keep being violent to the innocent... violence continues to happen to those who cannot speak for themselves.
Why, God, why?

This I know:
I am here to worship and honor you...
so how can I worship and honor you in seeking
justice for the repeated injustices?

This is my plea ... today more than ever:

What can I do to honor You today,
to honor the legacy of the life at risk,
to honor the love instilled in the family name... ?

Psalm 11
For the director of music. Of David.

1 In the LORD I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain.

2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.

3 When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

4 The LORD is in his holy temple;
the LORD is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
his eyes examine them.

5 The LORD examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.

6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.

7 For the LORD is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.

:::Lord, I pray you lead me in your way everlasting... I pray you order my days, direct my footsteps and rein in my sinful desires. I'm broken. I'm hurting for those who hurt. :::

What would you have me do?

Life is full of lessons...

Today's lesson: the item at the store known as the "all-purpose eraser" (another company calls it the "magic eraser") can be used OUTSIDE too!

Today I learned it can help remove paint scuffs on cars! (ahem)

There HAD BEEN a 3 inch x 6 inch "scuff" of white paint on the wheel well of my car ...

But THANKS to the magic eraser, it's no longer there... (ahem)

Now, if I can just get THIS scuff off before the hubby gets home from work... (ahem)...

In all seriousness, this product will only help your paint job if it's merely a "flesh wound"... if the "wound" runs deeper than that (if there is paint scratched off your vehicle) then it will not help your problem, obviously.

Follow the instructions on the back of the box, add a little elbow grease and this really will work magic in your life.

Around the house I also use it to clean door jams/tile grout/door knobs, to remove scuffs on furniture/wood cabinets/appliances and to remind my house who is boss around here.

life is (mostly) good... (especially when you can get scuffs off cars)

History cannot be changed...

Several weeks ago PublishersWeekly announced in this article that NewSouth Books plans to release a newer version of "Huck Finn" along with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, that (GET THIS!) replaces the "n" word (as well as the "in" word, "Injun") with the word "slave."

Like so many other aspects of our world, this company is attempting to re-write history. It cannot be done.

What they don't know is that this WILL NOT change history. They might try... but it won't happen. They might try to gloss over what that time in history looked like... but it won't happen. They might try to show that society was a kinder/nicer loving folk... but it won't happen.

Mr. Alan Gribben, a so-called Twain scholar, can justify this change however he sees fit. But it still won't change anything.

The reality is that today our society is still reeling from that hatred and ignorance and fear ...

Espcecially today, on a day to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, I think about the disservice done to our humanity... and I applaud his courage, his positive attitude, his willingness to put his life and the life of his family and friends at risk for the greater good.

Thank you for your willingness to fight for the right thing, Mr. King.

"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." - Martin Luther King Jr.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." - Martin Luther King Jr.

"The time is always right to do the right thing." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Happy New Year!!! Welcome 2011...

To ring in the New Year my sweet hubby and I got to run off with each other and reconnect. What a treat...

We stayed at Rancho Bernardo Inn... our room looked out over the 10th green. We flung open the patio doors and let the sunshine in... what a lovely day!

This was our view...

Later in the evening we took a stroll around the property... and THIS was our view.

We enjoyed a scrumptious dinner at the Veranda ... have I said yet how much of a treat this was?!

And for the rest of our time... this was the serene vista from the front door.

Our suite was perfectly sized. With a desk and an ottomon and two chairs... perfect for reading by the patio doors in the morning!

Granted, he was "on call" as "manager on duty" for the night... but I wasn't complaining! I say, let's do this more often! I am one lucky girl...

life is good...
